In 1854 a new coaching inn called the White Lion was opened in the centre of Great Missenden’s thriving high street. 150 years on the property was purchased by a local Paul Fullagar, with an opportunity to bring the White Lion back to its former glory. Paul was no stranger to bringing back to life former business’s having been behind the Rex cinema in Berkhamstead and more recently the Odyssey in St Albans.
Origins was opened in 2009 offering a fine restaurant and wine bar during which they have enjoyed acclaimed status including “Diners choice award” for 2018 and 2019 and Tripadvisor “Certificate of Excellence 2019”, situated in the High Street of Great Missenden.
At the end of December 2019, they undertook a major refurbishment which included a new look and feel, including a new menu of contemporary and classic Italian food created by our Italian Head Chef, Gennaro Grella who has been with head chef since the beginning. Earlier in January they opened their doors to a new Italian dining and drinking experience.
To the rear of our property are the gardens, which are perfect for relaxing in on a beautiful summer’s day with the family including well behaved dogs. This picture of bliss is completed with the addition of a glass of red wine and a selection of delicious Italian food, cooked to perfection by staff with more than 18 years of experience. Quiet and enclosed, the gardens provide a peaceful respite that overlooks Buryfield and offers a picturesque view across the Chilterns. A path from the garden leads to the Memorial Hall car park, meaning access by car is truly convenient. As the day turns to dusk, our gardens are floodlit to ensure that they are the ideal place to spend a summer’s evening.
After a long day why not call in for one of our amazing cocktails or a glass of wine to help you unwind, with some delicious home prepared olives. Choose to sit in our comfy seating area, at the bar or in the garden if the sun is shining.
